In a few situations ahead today, Careem consumers were charged some thousand in extra for a single ride when a technical malfunctioning happened in the system.
The main purpose behind the additional cost is assumed to be a system failure that falsely charged Pakistani consumers in Dollars, Dirhams, and other foreign coins.
If a client, for example, was thought to be imposed Rs. 1,500 for a ride, the Careem system priced him/her Dhs. 1,500 – which is approximately Rs. 62,000.
When requested, Careem approved the problem and announced that a technical failure was the cause behind the hiccup.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused. The amount was charged in a different currency due to a configuration error. It has been rectified immediately. Please be assured that reimbursement will be made as per banking procedures. Please feel free to reach out for further clarity.
As per the refs, any excess costs will refund to consumers in due course of time.
Furthermore, to be seen that consumers charge a currency transaction fee of 3.5%, which is normally when a Pakistani card costs for each international currency.
It is necessary to mention here that each credit card payment could take weeks in Pakistan.
