Telecommunication has become an essential part of growth indicators. Recent times have revealed that it is vital that countries have a more collaborative connection.
In an official report, the PTA shared that it has extended training and technical support to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka to implement Mobile Number Portability in Sri Lanka successfully.
Sri Lankan Regulator has intended to launch MNP for mobile users in their country and plans to follow the rules adopted by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority. MNP is a service through which a mobile phone user can switch his network without replacing the number. Pakistan was the first country in South Asia to launch this ability for its mobile users in 2007.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has led workshops on mobile number portability (MNP) and held consultations with TRCSL spokespeople regarding best practices and related problems.
The TRCSL has confirmed PTA’s help replicating the mobile number portability model in Sri Lanka. Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) welcomes the confirmation, which reflects broad cooperation between the two controls.
