Pakistan to auction mobile telecom spectrum in June

The disposal for the mobile telecom spectrum requires to be taken in June this year. According to many authorities and specialists, it will be victorious because of the inherent available in the country. An authority shared these specifications at a consultative committee meeting for setting up the Next Generation Mobile Services (NGMS) spectrum at the Finance Division. The conference chair by Federal Minister for Revenue and Finance Shaukat Tarin.

The conference also tended by Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Syed Amin ul Haque, Federal Minister for Science and Technology Senator Shibli Faraz, consultant to the Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood, federal secretaries of associated ministries, chairman of the PTA, Executive Director of the Frequency Allocation Board and other managers.

Throughout the conference, the commission passed the instructions for the purchase of the telecom spectrum. Shortly, the authorities would endure conferences with all the stakeholders in the next step to obtain the disposal in the upcoming June.

In the following step, the consultant will forward the ‘knowledge memorandum,’ which contains the plans regarding the auction. Moreover, the Minister for Information Technology and Telecom briefed the committee regarding the purchase of spectrum, which continues to grow and extend unparallel communication/information technology services.

The authority notified the council regarding the spectrum auction of 1,800 MHz and 2,100 MHz bands. The panel also says that the “Spectrum Auction Pakistan 2020-2021” was directed on regulatory consistency for the investor community and enhance the mobile broadband generation that will also have a positive and long-term impact on the overall financial majority of Pakistan. Moreover, the consultant also revealed the faith that there was serious potential for broadband and telecom services beyond Pakistan.
