Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) has launched a Mustahiq app, which allows users to get information about various Zakat schemes and programs in local languages and provides access to the staff in charge of Zakat programs at the hospital and district level.
The mobile application launched by Mr. Anwar Zeb at Zakat and Usher Minister Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will help make the Zakat and Social Welfare Department smooth and paperless.
The Mustahik app develops under the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Government Innovation Fellowship Program 6th Cycle, a tripartite partnership between KPITB, Code for Pakistan, and the World Bank Group.
Touseef Ahmed, an associate of the 6th cycle, worked on the applications during the six-month scholarship program.
The inaugural function was organized by the Department of Zakat and Social Welfare, which was attended by the Minister of Zakat and Ushr, Secretary of Zakat and Social Welfare, and representatives of the Code for Pakistan.
The Department of Zakat and Ushr in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa region is in charge of seeing after various marginalized parts of the community such as the poor, victims of violence, persons with disabilities, needy women, orphans, and drug addicts through established institutions and autonomous bodies across the region.
However, the Zakat and Ushr Ministry’s awareness of schemes wasn’t readily available or accessible to target beneficiaries or the general public. A mobile app was launched, which will help people quickly access this information on their mobile phones.
