The signing ceremony was held between the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Information Technology Board and the Artificial Intelligence focused Information Technology organization Afiniti, led by the US Pakistani billionaire Zia Chishti. The contract was signed by Dr. Ali Mahmood, Managing Director of the IT Board and Affinity Office at Ziaullah Bangash, Advisor on Science and Information Technology.
As part of the agreement, Afiniti, in collaboration with the KPK Information Technology Council, will set up a branch office in Peshawar, which will allow companies to not only start regular investments in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but also provide job opportunities for locals.
Science and Information Technology Advisor Ziaullah Bangash said it was an excellent achievement for the state government to convince multinational giants like Afiniti to start operating in the state. He further asks that the PTI-led KPK government took concrete steps to develop the Information Technology sector and provide employment chances to the youth.
Earlier last month, Afiniti founder Zia Chishti expressed interest in investing heavily in KPK, including constructing a technology city in the province. The offer makes during a meeting between Zia Chishti and KPK Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. Finance Minister KPK Taimur Saleem Jhagra and Regional Government Minister KPK Akbar Ayub Khan were also present in the meeting.
According to details, the proposed technology city will have an initial capacity of 10,000-15,000 IT people and more than 50,000 job opportunities for young people.
